What to know before uploading
One Stop vs Easy Clear
LÜM is prioritizing tracks that are one-stop or easy clear so it can ensure its ability to legally clear the music in an efficient manner while responding to opportunities from brands or music supervisors.
“One-Stop”: Music that can be cleared by contacting one person. You are the sole rightsholder for the master and composition/publishing of the track.
“Easy Clear”: Music can be cleared by contacting one person who can assist with reaching no more than three people. You, along with two or three others, are the only rightsholders for the master and composition/publishing of the track.
Rights holder metadata
Your contact information and information regarding additional rights-holders must be accurate. If this information is not accurate, then we cannot contact the proper parties for clearance and cannot pitch the music effectively.
Samples, interpolations, and replays
LÜM will not accept any music that has any non-original sound or that the creator does not exclusively own. This includes non-exclusive beat agreements, remixes, free samples or any interpolations that are not 100% exclusively created or owned by the submitting creator.
Note: If you have purchased the exclusive license for a drum-kit or sample pack that features original sounds from the creator, and you have the proper legal documentation associated with that purchase, you can submit that track to LÜM’s sync catalog.
Clean versions and instrumentals
At this time LÜM is only accepting tracks that have the original recording, a clean version and the instrumental. It will not always be known which aspects of the recording will be used for a placement, so it is imperative that we collect all three of these versions of the recording at the time of submission.
Registering with a PRO
We do suggest that all of our artists properly register their music with a PRO (e.g., ASCAP, BMI or SESAC). However, as long as you have submitted the proper contact information, split agreements and rights-holder information, you can still submit music that is not registered.
Multiple Masters and Publishers
For LÜM to be agile and to be able to respond to time-sensitive opportunities for placement, we need to ensure we will be able to clear the music for placement quickly. To make this possible, we are limiting the number of rights-holders to three Masters owners and five publishers so that we can contact rights-holders and clear the music in a timely manner.
Edit already submitted track information
Please email us at email@example.com with your stage name and the name of the track you submitted in the subject line (Artist Name | Track Title). In the body of the email, please provide a detailed breakdown of what needs to be updated. We will send you an email confirmation when the changes have been received and updated within our catalog.
The primary Master owner (50% or more ownership of the Master recording) is responsible for submitting tracks to the program. Payments are remitted based on the split agreements submitted during the upload process.
